Guess what happened last week, everyone? My old friend Katia from Belarus finally sent me an e-mail. She used to be my aupair nanny when I was in high school and after a year together we were really like sisters. I thought my heart would break when she had to leave and she confessed later it felt like losing a part of her.

Anyways we wrote to each other for a while by snail mail and then she disappeared for a while. Now we are back on track together and I even invited her to my wedding. She said yes obviously so we’ll see her spring and get to do some of the things we loved back then.

I can’t believe it, she has two kids now and she’s only four years older than me! It seems strange that the girl I knew and had pillow fights with is a picture-perfect mother and wife. But that will happen to me soon as well so I better ask her a lot of questions. But in her last e-mail she said that motherhood is like this crazy basic instinct and when you become one it’s just as natural as anything else. But she was such a perfect au pair for me I can see where her motherly talents are coming from. Anyways, I am all excited about this. And my parents are thrilled too. Laters!
